Bolivian Hardwood was founded by Dennis and Vesna Hockman in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2000. Upon their arrival to the United States from Bolivia, they noticed an immediate need for quality doors that would benefit many Americans.

When they compared the doors on the homes of the poorest communities in Bolivia to those found in some of the wealthier communities in the States, they observed that the ones in Bolivia were of a higher quality and were environmentally friendly. Being that Bolivian doors are made of solid wood, they do not include veneers or cores which contain a cancer-causing formaldehyde.

Mr. and Mrs. Hockman tapped into their resources and gained access to a quality manufacturer, giving them the opportunity they needed to open their business, Bolivian Hardwood.
